On
November 16, 2016, one of the most revered Roswell historic landmarks was place
on the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation’s 2017 list of ten “Places in
Peril.”
Designed
and built by John Dunwody (later spelled Dunwoody) in 1840, Mimosa Hall is a
stunning Greek Revival with its lush and iconic gardens created by one-time
owner, Atlanta architect Neel Reid. The city of Roswell recently
purchased the house and 9 acres with plans to respect the property's historic
significance and ensure the preservation of Mimosa Hall for years to
come. The pre-civil war mansion will join the legacy of Roswell’s
Southern Trilogy House Museums: Barrington Hall, Bulloch Hall and Smith
Plantation, and other historic treasures in Roswell.
Mimosa
Hall is not currently open to the public but watch for more information to be
released in the near future.
