Do you love sharing your town? ….. Would you like to know more about Roswell?

That’s exactly what Roswell Tourism Ambassadors do.  They’re business people, civic leaders, and residents who are excited about all of the great things that Roswell has to offer.  To become an official Roswell Tourism Ambassador they attend a 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. training session where they are given information about Roswell’s tourism program and how it impacts the economic vitality of our city.  Then, they board  a mini-bus to tour historic sites, enjoy our natural areas, learn more about the arts, Roswell’s vibrant culinary scene, the craft brewery industry and much more.

Graduates of the Program receive certification that they have completed the training and are presented a Roswell Tourism Ambassador lapel pin.  Three sessions have been held since March with a total of 43 trained Roswell Tourism Ambassadors. 

It’s exciting to have them “join the tourism team” by sharing their Roswell community knowledge with friends, family, customers and clients as they contribute to the enhancement of the experience of visitors to Roswell, entice visitors to come back to our area, and encourage friends and family to take advantage of all Roswell has to offer.

Craft Beer is All the Rage!

September 2017 was a date to celebrate for craft beer lovers.

On September 1, the state of Georgia began permitting local consumers the legal right to buy a beer to drink on site at local breweries and to purchase a case a day directly from the brewery.  Brewpubs are also allowed to sell beer to customers for take-home.

Roswell’s breweries made plans to begin implementation quickly to serve the needs of their customers and to raise awareness of the craft beer industry in the city.  Make your plans to visit one of them soon.

Gate City Brewing Company on Magnolia Street (near the intersection of Magnolia & Canton) was the first to open in Roswell and has developed a strong reputation and loyal patrons.  Next came Georgia’s first female brewery owner & brew master, Kathy Davis with Abbey of the Holy Goats Brewery (fascinating story about the name – be sure to ask her).  This brewery is located in Northfield, just off Old Roswell Road and has become a popular spot to gather for those who love craft beer.

Variant Brewing Company will open in this month on Norcross Street, a short distance from Canton Street. The building is beautiful and we are promised the beers will be exceptional. 

From the Earth Brewing Company (Brew Pub) has scheduled their opening for October 20.  Located at 1570 Holcomb Bridge Road, this will be Roswell’s first farm to table brewpub with locally sourced cuisine, great beer and craft cocktails.

Mimosa Hall Saved from “Places in Peril”

On November 16, 2016, one of the most revered Roswell historic landmarks was place on the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation’s 2017 list of ten “Places in Peril.”

Designed and built by John Dunwody (later spelled Dunwoody) in 1840, Mimosa Hall is a stunning Greek Revival with its lush and iconic gardens created by one-time owner, Atlanta architect Neel Reid.  The city of Roswell recently purchased the house and 9 acres with plans to respect the property's historic significance and ensure the preservation of Mimosa Hall for years to come.  The pre-civil war mansion will join the legacy of Roswell’s Southern Trilogy House Museums: Barrington Hall, Bulloch Hall and Smith Plantation, and other historic treasures in Roswell.

Mimosa Hall is not currently open to the public but watch for more information to be released in the near future.

Blue Miller Pens Catchy Roswell Tune

Have you heard the latest toe-tapping tune by Blue Miller on the www.VisitRoswellGA.com website?  Blue is a Grammy Award-winning songwriter and performer.

You will be surprised by how many movies where his raspy sound has been heard.  The cinema list is Next of Kin, The Cowboy Way, Miami Vice, Bamboozled, and the Perfect Game among others! Blue’s soulful sound has been heard in jingles for the likes of Kroger, Bud Light, Betty Crocker, and Frosted Flakes, and he’s released multiple successful records with the former Gibson/Miller Band. This time, his achievements continue with the creation of a new tune all about Roswell! The lyrics sum up many of the reasons Roswell is a great city:

Favorite Places to Take Pictures in Roswell

Roswell is filled with picturesque scenery. From our award-winning parks, to our historic house museums, to the Chattahoochee River, there is no shortage of great places to take photos of (and be photographed in)! Here are some of our favorite photography spots in Roswell.

Vickery Creek- This scenic spot is possibly the most photographed location in Roswell! The waterfall that spills from the dam is popular for selfies and portraits alike. The nearby wooden covered bridge is used for senior portraits, wedding photos, and, of course, for snapping photos of our furry friends.

Canton Street- Whether you’re enjoying a mid-day lunch, strolling through local shops, or taking part in the night life, Canton Street has an abundance of picture opportunities. Take photos of your delicious food or with your friends and family as you enjoy all Canton Street has to offer.

Roswell Town Square- This idyllic location is another appealing background. Visit during Alive in Roswell to capture all the fun that night brings, or come by during a calmer time. The gazebo and fountain add to Roswell’s Southern charm.
